 January 24, 2013 –  Today marked the tenth meeting of the Public Advisory Committee (PAC) for the Southgate OMRC. Highlights of this meeting included construction updates from Guy Treadwell and members of the PAC toured the off loading area where two hoppers have been installed at the facility. October 18, 2012 –  Today marked the ninth meeting of the Public Advisory Committee (PAC) for the Southgate OMRC. Highlights of this meeting included construction updates from Guy Treadwell, Environmental Compliance Approval Details and the PAC was shown a sample of the Layfield Liner material that will be used to form the liner and cover for the storage lagoons. Highlights of this meeting included a tour of the Lystek Facility in Dundalk, approval updates and discussion on “Best Management Practices for Land Applications of Lystek Material”. July 31, 2012 –  Today marked the seventh meeting of the Public Advisory Committee (PAC) for the Southgate OMRC. June 19, 2012 –  Sixth PAC Meeting  –  The Public Advisory Committee (PAC) for the Southgate Organic Materials Recovery Centre (OMRC) made a trip to the St. Marys Waste Water Treatment Plant today to view the Lystek system used to process biosolids at the facility, kill all pathogens and convert them into a safe, low-odour, provincially-approved NASM product. Also present for this tour was Mr. Barry Hill of Six Nations of the Grand River in the capacity of consultant for the Haudenosaunee Development Institute (HDI). As a result of this tour and Mr. Hill is a certified professional engineer (P. Eng., ret’d.), B. Eng. & M. Eng.  with over 25 years of experience. He is a former Manager of Strategic Planning with Ontario Hydro. Presently, he is a well known, respected, award-winning farmer in the Six Nations of the Grand River territory.

Barry and his wife operate Hillsfield Farms, a 2,000 acre grains and oilseeds operation. He is also past President of the Ontario Soil & Crop Improvement Association and the Brant County Federation of Agriculture. He was the founding President of the First Nations AgriGroup as well as one of the founding Directors of the Integrated Grain Processors Cooperative Ethanol Plant in Aylmer, Ontario. He is a Board Member of the Two Rivers Community Development Fund and has acted as a panel member and consultant to the Six Nations Economic Development Department.

A comprehensive report was written by Mr. Hill and filed for HDI on June 29, 2012. This supportive document  summarizes Mr. Hill’s findings as a result of his investigations which included a review of all technical materials, the tour and a follow up meeting and discussions held with Lystek. April 24, 2012 –  Today marked the fourth meeting of the Public Advisory Committee (PAC) for the Southgate OMRC. Highlights of this meeting include the reporting of a discussion with MPP Bill Walker at the Lystek Information office to clarify any concerns regarding the engineering of the product storage reservoirs and an update on the First Nations consultation process. A brief overview of the status of the process was shared and discussion was also held regarding the ongoing initiative to review questions and provide answers from the community of Southgate regarding the OMRC. March 27, 2012 – The third meeting of the Public Advisory Committee (PAC) for the Southgate OMRC was held today. Highlights of this meeting include the nomination and swearing in of Ms. Sarah Mason as Official Secretary of the committee as well as confirmation of the decision to allow public and media attendance at meetings and accepted protocols for Q & A periods within these sessions. Discussion were held about how to how to best address ongoing questions from the community in a broader sense, followed by a brief update on the status of the MOE review process and a feature presentation regarding Setback Distances for Land Application (ASM vs. NASM vs. Commercial Fertilizer). February 28, 2012 – The second meeting of the Public Advisory Committee (PAC) for the Southgate OMRC was held today. Highlights of this meeting include the nomination and swearing in of Mr. Stephen G. Redmond, formerly of OMAFRA as Chair of the committee, a discussion about public attendance at meetings going forward, a presentation and detailed discussion regarding regulated metals and a special, focused presentation by Dr. Ajay Singh regarding micro constituents in soil. Updates were also provided with respect to the Traffic Impact Study and MOE approvals. January 31, 2012 – The first meeting of the Public Advisory Committee (PAC) for the Southgate Organic Materials Recovery Centre (OMRC) was held today. The establishment of the PAC is an interim measure that is being initiated on a voluntary basis as part of Lystek’s effort to maintain open and transparent dialogue with the community. The PAC will be provided with regular updates on the project as well as opportunities for members to make suggestions regarding the Centre. This initiative will provide another, practical avenue to facilitate a two-way flow of information between the OMRC and the public. The PAC includes participation from a variety of community members, all of whom have volunteered their time to act as local sources of information regarding the Centre.

January 24, 2012 – today marked the Grand Opening of the Southgate Organic Materials Recovery Centre (OMRC) Information Office at 40 Main St. East, Dundalk Ontario. Lystek staff and Southgate council were on hand to share time with the community and, of course, respond to detailed questions regarding this exciting initiative. Representatives from the local media conducted interviews and reported on the words of warm welcome and excitement that were shared by Mayor Brian Milne. Rick Mosher, President & CEO also spoke. He thanked the Mayor, council and the community at large for welcoming Lystek into the Township and reiterated its commitment to being a positive, contributing member of the local business community. The Information Office will provide the residents of Southgate with a physical location where they go to learn more about the OMRC. It will also serve as an excellent location for local contractors, farmers, and other local businesses looking to explore opportunities with Lystek.

November 25, 2011 – As part of our ongoing efforts to engage and inform the residents of the community of Southgate, we are pleased to announce the formation of a Public Advisory Committee (PAC). This committee will serve as another opportunity for residents of the Township to stay informed about the proposed Dundalk Organic Materials Recovery Centre (OMRC).
